“Brims over with a funky, breezy, soulful charisma, and finds Scotty very impressively handling most of the instruments (and song writing) himself. Most strikingly though, it's the voice! Names like Sam Cooke, Ron Sexsmith, Stevie Wonder, Junior Parker, or even Feist may come to mind occasionally, but Scotty remains effortlessly original throughout.” - CKUA Radio

Scotty Hills got his start as a touring blues drummer, travelling North America and Europe with  Canadian alt blues band The Perpetrators. He co-wrote/produced their multiple Western Canadian Award winning and Juno Nominated album The Gas and the Clutch.  In 2008, Scotty released a self produced debut solo album Wonderland Urgency, then later re-imagined it as Year of Septembers in 2012. Since then, Scotty has written for mega star Rianna, produced for Haley Reinhart, and written with Los Angeles "A" listers like Deputy and Jerrod Bettis.

Scotty’s approach to music is like a patchwork quilt; it’s earthy and warm, with bright colours juxtaposed in rhythmic sequence. His songs are blues-y sleeper anthems, haunted with broken yet ethereal melodies. With one foot in his prairie roots, another in Detroit soul, Scotty draws from city blues, old country/folk, and indie R n’ B, then exhales in a style that is a unique sum of them all.
